“Thank you for this resource! I have used this with my homeschooled child as well as in my classroom at church!”

This lesson unit takes your students' understanding of the 7 Days of Creation to the next level! Written specifically for older students in grades 4-8, this curriculum adds another layer to their basic knowledge. For instance, students learn that on the first, second and third days of creation, God CREATED and then SEPARATED: Light and dark / sky and water / land and sea. Then on days four, five and six, God FILLED what He separated with the sun and moon, stars, sea creatures, birds, animals, and people. A colorful worksheet has students drawing in these objects in separated sections. A one minute video link is provided in the curriculum allowing students to check their answers, once again highlighting this important truth.

✍️Students color code the days of creation by underlining, in different colors, repeated words and phrases such as “God said” and “God called” and “there was evening and there was morning” to find there is a high level of repetition and a predictable pattern in the creation narrative.

✝️ What Have I Learned about Jesus Today?

At the end of this lesson (and every lesson in this series), we invite students to ponder the thought-provoking question: "What have you learned about JESUS today?" In this lesson, students learn that Jesus as God the Son, the second person of the Trinity, was not only present at creation, He IS our Creator! (John 1:1-10) Not only that, Hebrews 1:3a explains that Jesus is our Sustainer and “upholds the universe by the word of his power”. Jesus is essentially holding it all together for us!

There are two optional projects in which your students can participate:

⛲️PROJECT AQUARIUM which uses a small aquarium and objects such as water, aquarium gravel (land), a flashlight (light), plastic plants, fish and animals etc. as a reminder of the order of creation.

☀️PROJECT PROPS gives each student a role as the class participates in retelling the story of creation using props such as a pillow (God rested), animal masks (included in the lesson), fish and birds (also included), silk flowers, leaves etc.

Included in this Lesson:

◾️Two page pre-class preparation instructions (items to gather, photocopies to make, video links, room prep etc.)

◾️Nine page lesson plan with clearly clear DO/SAY/READ conversational wording

◾️Color Coding the Days of Creation (Worksheet/Answer Key)

◾️Days of Creation: Separating/Filling Pattern (Worksheet/Answer Key)

✝️ Perfect for Sunday school, homeschool or Christian school classrooms! This allows homeschool and Christian school teachers to use it daily in the classroom (thereby completing an entire unit in a week) OR in a Sunday School classroom or youth group once a week (thereby completing an entire unit in a month).

✔️Our goal with each lesson is to combine scholarly study in a fun, interactive way so that students not only experience the rich Biblical narrative but also to whet their appetite for more by learning how to study the Scriptures for themselves.
