Teaching style

Hello! Becky here. I’m honored that you are considering Experience the Bible Creatively.

My heart is that students see God’s Word not as a series of stories and make-believe fairy tales, but rather as real-life historical events contained in a book that is alive and able to change the trajectory of their lives.

I love to help teachers create hands-on Bible props that engage and enlighten students as God’s story of salvation is told from Genesis through Revelation.

Using auditory, visual and kinesthetic cues, students are involved in the learning process with all five of their senses. When students are involved in the process of studying the Bible, their excitement for learning about Jesus builds and grows.

Students are never too old for tangible, hands-on props that allow them to use their senses to investigate a life-changing endeavor ~ the learning of God’s Word.

By adding objects and props to a Bible curriculum, the learning experience rises above an ordinary lesson, allowing the living Word of God to foster and grown in the hearts of students who are ready to take a deeper dive into Scripture.

Dedicated teachers know the striking difference between imparting information during a history or spelling class and bringing students into an encounter with God in His living Word, the Bible.

Over the course of more than three decades, I have served in multiple capacities to promote Biblical education, including curriculum developer for a large New England church, resource room director, VBS director, Sunday School teacher, Christian school teacher (older elementary), elementary chapel speaker, and Spiritual Emphasis Week writer and presenter.

With more than 20+ years of curriculum writing experience, and a personal love of crafting, I started Experience the Bible Creatively in the fall of 2018. This ministry equips Sunday school teachers, Christian educators, and home-schooling parents with original curriculum resources and instructional videos so they can creatively teach the Bible using hands-on props.

Bible Education Experience

Statement of Faith

As a Bible curriculum writer for older students in grades 5-8, I bear the tremendous responsibility to teach God’s Word thoughtfully and biblically. The statement of faith outlined below is the key teachings and foundational principles upon which each lesson is taught in a careful, age-appropriate manner.

God

“In the beginning, God…” (Genesis 1:1) ~ the Eternal One without beginning and without end ~ the great I AM. God reveals Himself to us as three in one: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient. He is characterized by His creativity, loving mercy and grace, His intolerance for sin and His forgiveness for those that turn from their sin and trust Him as Lord.

Jesus

The way to God the Father is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, like God the Father, has always existed. God the Father sent His beloved Son to earth, born of the virgin Mary, to live among the people He loved. In obedience to His Father, Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. His primary purpose during His time here on earth was not to teach or comfort, but to die on a Roman cross as a once-for-all sacrifice as atonement for all sin, providing salvation for mankind. God raised Jesus from death on the third day to reign with Him forever and to prepare a place for us in Heaven.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is a deposit or guarantee that we are indeed saved and will live forever in Heaven. (2 Corinthians 5:5) The Holy Spirit lives in believers to communicate God’s truth, convict them of sin, and provide comfort in times of hardship. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts and Godly characteristics known as the Fruit of the Spirit to each Christian.

Sin Problem

God desires a relationship with us, His creation, but sin separates us from the holy God who loves us. The Bible is clear that the wages (or cost) of sin is death (Romans 6:23). In the Old Testament, a physically perfect animal was sacrificed to atone for sin, providing a temporary solution to an ongoing sin problem. We deserved to die for our sins, but He provided the Perfect Sacrifice to die on our behalf.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift, freely given to anyone who acknowledges Jesus as Lord and Savior. It cannot be earned; no one can boast that their good works earned admission into Heaven (Ephesians 2:8-9). Believers are called to live righteously as bondservants out of extreme gratitude.

Man

God created each human being in His image, with unique personalities, physical features and gifts. God does not make mistakes; each male and female born on this earth has a unique purpose. Believers must value and defend human life from conception to natural death.

Bible

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by human hands under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and is without error. While it contains historical and poetic aspects, it is different from any other book ever written because it is living and active, bringing people to repentance and salvation. God’s Word is complete; there are no new revelations yet to be made by God (Revelation 22:18-19).

Baptism

Baptism by immersion is not a requirement for salvation, but is a requirement of obedience and submission as the first step of discipleship. Christian baptism is a beautiful picture of Jesus’ death and resurrection as the believer identifies with Him. It signifies new life that is eternal and future resurrection from the grave.
